  1. I was at the game as a 15yr old schoolboy, travelled up on the train,…. the atmosphere was electric, it seemed like half of Manchester were packed in behind the goals.

    I went to every home game and half the away fixures that season, the combination of Joe Mercer and big Mal was wonderful, pity it had to end in tears.

    Pardoe,Pardoe, He’s off to Mexico,
    With Bell and Lee and Summerbee,
    Pardoe,Pardoe,Pardoe Pardoe…..
